No meaning in Conducting Tamil Conference, Suppressing Advocates voice for Tamil.
Leaders of major Opposition parties have expressed solidarity with the advocates. AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa urged them to give up their protest, saying she will fulfill their demand after coming to power in 2011.
In the meanwhile, 300 people, including women were arrested in Othakadai, near the Madurai Bench when they tried to conduct a ‘road roko’ in support of the fasting advocates. Around 150 Madurai Advocates who blocked the traffic in front of the Madurai Bench though spared from arrest, but cases have been registered against them, say sources.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court witnessed a complete boycott for the third day from Friday, in support of the advocates’ demand to argue in Tamil and installation of Tamil name board.
Meanwhile, around 150 advocates of the Madras High Court undertook an agitation inside the Madras High Court expressing solidarity with the agitating advocates of Madurai. RC Paul Kanagaraj, who expressed complete solidarity with the Madurai advocates cautioned that, if there is no progress in a couple of days, the agitation would spread to Chennai.
Past Tamil leaders like Ma.Po Sivagnam stated that Tamil Nadu Government itself is having power to implement Tamil language as official language in High Courts. It is not known why Kalaignar Karunanidhi is not implementing this when he is having great affection towards Tamil and Tamil people.
The agitation of the advocates assumes significance, in the wake of the World Tamil Conference. Suppressing Advocates voice for Tamil in High Courts, there is no meaning in Conducting Tamil Conference.
