Marina beach is a very significant place in Chennai. Generally, all the important state level functions are organised here. There are several statues of the Tamil scholars and Kannagi is the legendary heroine of the ancient Tamil literary work ‘Silapathigaram’ written by Ilango Adigal. She is seen as an enduring symbol of Tamil culture and chastity. The New Tamil Nadu Assembly Building is going to be opened by our beloved Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during March 2010.
