The Allahabad High Court judgment on Sep 30 on the Ayodhya dispute has given judicial recognition to the belief of millions of Hindus that the makeshift temple where Ram idols are installed is the deity’s birthplace.

Advani said he was extremely happy to say that after the “landmark judgment” delivered by the Allahabad High Court Sep 30, “the country has arrived at a fortuitous point where judicial verdict can form the basis of an amicable settlement between representatives of Hindu and Muslim communities”.


The judges were unanimous in their decision that Shri Ram Chandra Ji was born at the place, where his idol known as Ram Lala is Virajman for worship. Thus, the sanctum sanctorum belongs to Ram Lala Ji and that the idols will NOT be removed. The Hindu worship would continue as heretofore.


The High Court held that there was a Hindu temple at the site before it was demolished by Mir Baqi, under orders of Babur. The Archaelogical Survey of India had proved the existence of a Hindu place of worship beyond doubt. Therefore, construction of a mosque at the site of a demolished place of worship of another Faith was against the tenets of Islam.


Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi said Ayodhya judgment has paved the way for construction of a grand Ram temple and will act as a catalyst in maintaining unity in the country.

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu Big Temple was 1,000-year-old and built by the emperor Rajaraja Chola in Thanjavur and regarded as an architectural wonder. On Saturday [25-9-2010] it was the venue of a spectacular Bharatanatyam performance.
As the highlight of the millennium celebration of the temple, a world heritage monument, over 1,000 dancers, predominantly women, led by Padma Subrahmanyam, displayed their talent for about 45 minutes.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, his ministerial colleagues and thousands of people from the town and nearby places, watched the performance meant as a tribute to the Chola emperor and the greatness of the temple that withstood the test of time.
Mr. Karunanidhi, who wore a silk ‘angavastaram,' commended Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam for the dance programme. Dr. Subrahmanyam thanked the artists who came to the programme at their own expense.
The Chief Minister released a book authored by R. Nagasamy, veteran archaeologist, on the 400 dancers of the temple during the period of Rajaraja Chola. M.K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister, received the copy. LED screens were put up around the temple.

On 24 September 2010 (Friday) the proceedings commenced at 3.30 p.m., in Court Room 2 of Delhi High Court. The Hon’ble Judge Vikramjit Sen, Senior Judge permitted MDMK General Secretary Vaiko to place his arguments to implead him in the proceedings about the ban on LTTE.

The central government of India extended the ban on LTTE for another two years in May 2010. The Indian government says even though the LTTE is eliminated in Sri Lanka, the remnant LTTE cadres and leaders are regrouping in Tamil Nadu, a state that favors a separate homeland for the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The Home Ministry of India has noted that there is a possibility of LTTE's remnant cadres using India and especially, Tamil Nadu as a rear base for their regrouping activities.

Vaiko told “My Lord, I am really happy for this opportunity to clarify this vital point. The LTTE never wanted to annex even an inch of land of Tamil Nadu with their Tamil Eelam,” Vaiko replied.

“Could the Union Government of India prove that the LTTE did mention in any of their periodicals or manifesto or publications? They could not. This is beyond any stretch of imagination of Eelam Tamils. This is a vicious, malicious campaign made deliberately by the Indian Government to malign the LTTE,” Vaiko told the Tribunal.

The special tribunal, headed by a High Court Justice to examine the legality of extension of ban on LTTE, declined a plea made by Vaiko, to hear him before passing any order.

Former Union minister of state and senior Congress leader EVKS Elangovan on Friday[10-9-2010] demanded removal of K. V. Thangkabalu from Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president’s post charging that he was indulging in activities that weaken the party.


Accusing Thangkabalu of behaving in an autocratic manner, Elangovan told TOI that he had removed six persons from Congress and Youth Congress without even seeking an explanation from them. The TNCC president has no authority to remove workers from the party, he said and pointed out that the disciplinary committee could initiate such steps. Under Thangkabalu’s leadership, Congress had come to a standstill in the state, charged Elangovan, adding that the TNCC president had no time to meet people and propagate central government’s welfare schemes to the masses.


Elangovan has been critical of the DMK government, firing salvos at the DMK leadership for allegedly appropriating credit for central government’s welfare schemes. He says there is no use in giving Free Colour TV without providing electricity for people.


He told that in !980 alliance DMK provided 110 seats to Congress and now he wants 109 seats to congress and a Chief Minister or Dy Chief Minister Post.

Vinayaka Chaturthi is the Hindu festival of Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, who is believed to bestow his presence on earth for all his devotees in the duration of this festival. It is the birthday of Lord Ganesha who is widely worshiped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.
