There is a interesting case published in the News papers that whether a girl with both male and female traits can rape another Girl. Asian Games gold medalist Pinki Pramanik was arrested on Thursday after the athlete’s live-in girlfriend claimed Pinki was male and habitually raped and assaulted her. Pinki had won gold in the women’s 4x400 meters relay in 2006 at Doha, Qatar, but retired two years ago after a car crash.

Police have moved the Barasat district court to seek a medical examination to determine Pinki’s gender after an external examination at a private clinic revealed that the athlete had both male as well as female reproductive organs. Biddhannagar police commissioner Rajeev Kumar said the case (which has charges of rape, assault and impersonation) depends entirely on the medical verdict. Pinki, however, managed to stave off the examination. “I have undergone numerous tests during my career as an athlete. Why should I agree to more ridiculous tests?” Pinki told reporters outside the court, alleging that the complainant was levelling false charges because of a debt of . 3 lakh.

The police believe they have conclusive evidence which they will produce before the court on Friday to force a medical examination. If the tests prove Pinki is male and if the charge of rape is proved, the former athlete may face life imprisonment and lose all the medals since they would be deemed as “unfairly won on the track”. After retirement, Pinki bought a two-storied house in 2009 and settled down. The retired athlete allegedly developed a relationship with the 32-year-old wife of a next-door neighbour, leading to the couple’s separation in 2010. While the father and child moved out of the rented house, the woman moved into Pinki’s. On Wednesday, the woman rushed into Baguiati police station around 9pm and stunned the cops with her accusations.

When Pinki was summoned to the police station, she said she was feeling unwell and was taken to a nursing home, where police sought advice from the doctors on the patient’s gender. Two doctors did a physical examination and concluded that Pinki showed both male and female traits. “It is an extremely rare case. In all probability, both the reproductive systems are incomplete,” said one of the doctors.

We thank Gowda and have also sent petitions to the Hindu religious & charitable endowments commissioner of Tamil Nadu to remove Nithyananda from the post of the Madurai junior pontiff.” Similarly, other Shaivate adheenams, including Dharmapuram and Thirupanandhal welcomed the Karnataka government’s move. Thirupanandhal Adheenam head Muthukumarasami Thambiran said Nithyananda’s arrest had justified the demand for his removal from the junior pontiff post. “We have been objecting to his anointment as the next pontiff of the Madurai adheenam. Heads of twelve adheenams passed a resolution on May 1 against his appointment.

Karnataka law minister S Suresh Kumar announced in Dharwad on Saturday that the state government may take control of the administration of controversial godman Nithyananda’s Dhyanapeetam in Bidadi following allegations of objectionable activities there, the government wants to tread cautiously. It may await the outcome of the court cases Nithyananda is facing.


Forests minister CP Yogeshwar, who is in charge of Ramanagaram district where the ashram is situated, told STOI that he would meet with the district deputy commissioner and SP on Monday to decide the future course of action. According to him, if the government decides to appoint an administrator, it has to examine under which Act this can be done. “The administrator’s role will also have to be fixed on whether he will be overseeing ashram land or its assets or administration,’’ he said. A senior minister said before appointing an administrator, specific charges has to be framed against the persons heading or running the ashram. Currently, the issue is in court. 


The ashram is not some cooperative society which can be superseded and an administrator appointed immediately, he said. The ministers said the ashram could be taken over on the lines of Vaidyanatheswara temple in Gokarna, whose management was handed over to Ramachandrapur Mutt, or the Sri Krishna temple in Udupi, which was taken off the list of scheduled temples, and its management handed over to the ashta mutts. Meanwhile, a day after being arrested by Bidadi police, around 15 pro-Kannada activists were released from judicial custody on Saturday. They were arrested late Friday night after women disciples of Nithyananda filed a police complaint that the activists had barged into the ashram and created havoc. 


Condemning the attack on media persons and others, various social organizations urged the government to arrest Nithyananda immediately. Politicians, including opposition leader Siddaramaiah, condemned the incident. “Nithyananda’s ashram is becoming a hub for all sort of illegal activities. The government should seize the property and arrest the tainted swami immediately,” he said in Hassan. 


Tamil Nadu Advocate Gowthaman says that Hindu Religious and endowment Board can question the Mutt if they are not functioning in a proper way and they can take over the mutt, if the Mutt Head was involved in criminal cases and the accounts of Mutt were not maintained properly.

The reporter produced a summons issued by a US court against Nityananda and sought his reaction.

At first, Nityananda denied any summons was issued by the US court. When the reporter reminded him that the summons had been issued thrice and the Ashram staff had not told him about it, he still denied the existence of any summons. “If I did not receive the summons, the court could have issued a non-bailable warrant,” he said. A lawyer accompanying the reporter showed the summons, which angered Nityananda, who immediately directed his disciples to send both the reporter and advocate out of the press meet. Some of the assembled journalists opposed the move and were abused by the disciples. The reporters later walked out.

The TV reporter later filed a complaint against Nithyananda and four of his followers alleging of physical assault and threat to his life, police said. The press conference was called to respond to the allegations made a few days ago by Aarathi Rao in a TV interview, that Nityananda had sexually harassed her for years. She claimed she had exposed the sex scandal by placing a camera inside his rest room. Nityananda alleged that Ms Rao suffered from herpes and had come to the ashram for treatment. “I do not know much about her.

She is not attending the court hearing regularly and the court has issued summons against her. Now, she is simply making baseless allegations against me,” he said. “I will produce all the documents related to her in the court of law. I have enough documents to show that her allegations are baseless,” he added. He said Ms Rao had been making these allegations since the last two years. “Same is mentioned even in the CID charge sheet against me. All are baseless and aimed at tarnishing my image," he said. “Ms Aarathi Rao made allegations to stop Madurai Adheenam, from accepting me as his Uttaradhikari”, he added. "Four FIRs were lodged in the Bidadi police station in connection with an altercation at Nityananda's ashram last night" Ramanagara Superintendent of Police Anupam Agarwal said. Nityananda is facing criminal charges, including rape, on complaints from some former disciples last year.

He was arrested and later released on bail. Now the reporter in his complaint against Nityananda and four of his followers alleged that he was assaulted and threatened after he asked a question at a press conference convened by the god man in the backdrop of charges of sexual abuse levelled against him by a US-based woman.

But now the behavior of policemen exhibited in the pictures of Times of India shows how they are harassing the public even for minor mistakes which can be solved in an amicable way.
